About Osteopathy

Osteopaths are unique in the way that they assess patients from a mechanical, functional and postural standpoint. They use an established system of diagnosis and hands-on treatment to improve the function of the body.

Treatment is tailored to the needs of each patient. It aims to address the underlying causes of physical problems and improve the functioning of the body’s self healing mechanisms. Osteopaths are taught a variety of techniques, ranging from the well known high velocity thrust with its dramatic clicks, to the very gently applied methods of cranial osteopathy.

People often associate osteopathy with back pain. However, osteopaths treat a wide variety of problems throughout the body (see section on why you should see an Osteopath).

Patients come from all walks of life including sports people, the elderly, pregnant women, babies and children.
